As we mentioned to you very recently, the release of Rocksmith’s highly-anticipated Fall 08 collection is just around the corner. This time, though, a sneak peek at the collection makes the wait that much harder to bear. The “Speakerbox Series” theme draws inspiration from the question of what the year 2020 might hold and, going along with the theme, a few of the collection’s cut and sew pieces contain Rocksmith’s signature side-paneling. Check out Rocksmith’s blog and stay tuned for an announcement of the collection’s release any day now.

You’re sure to have seen evidence of Mountain Dew’s Green Label Art project in the form aluminum Mountain Dew bottles at your local corner store. The project, which features a careful selection of artists designing the bottles, is now back on track for its 2008 series. This time around, artists include Mark Smith (Jordan Brand), PJ Richardson (Stussy), Mike Sutfin (Star Wars/WoW), Billy the Artist, Troy Denning, and Maze (Kid Robot). Keep your eyes peeled for the second round of Green Label Art!

In response to the worldwide obsession with premium denim and a growing interest in vintage clothing, Levi’s has come out with the Levi’s Vintage Collection. The collection features models from Levi’s archives, selected from over 150 years of denim history and reproduced years following their original release. In addition to reproduced cuts and silhouettes, the Levi’s Vintage Collection features throwback denim treatment, distressing, and details.

Check out the Shoe Goo Dunk High, a collaboration between Nike SB and Starks Laces founder Alex Dymond. The shoe, which will be released along with Nike SB’s September line, features remarkably unique details. For instance, the side panel was designed from the scan of duct tape, resulting in an interesting duct tape-like print. Other standout details of the Shoe Goo Dunk High, as designed by Alex Dymond, include a cracked-leather upper, a red drip nylon tongue design, and a translucent midsole.

This weekend, Bape releases another Spring/Summer package at their Hong Kong Flagship store. In addition to a t-shirt, several cut and sew pieces, shorts, and accessories, Bapestas will be released in more “subtle” colorways. The tee, dubbed the “August T-shirt,” features a beetle on Baby Milo’s head, as well as an August 2008 calendar on the back. As for cut and sew, major pieces include a short-sleeve camo button up in black or white, as well as a thick-striped polo shirt. As for bottoms, this Spring/Summer package features striped, khaki, and washed denim shorts.

The first looks from Rocksmith’s Fall 08 photo campaign have just been released! With photography by Jared Ryder and styling by GFC, featured styles include the Bishop Crewneck, Flava X Tee, Swavvy Tee, and the Slash Leather Jacket. Also featured is this season’s Slash 3000 Windbreaker with perforated layered panels. Some of you may remember the Slash 3000 from Rocksmith’s video lookbook “Keep Up” starring Theophilus London & Masahiro Ito, which we posted about not too long ago.

Plus, look out for the Rocksmith D-Block Hoody and Satin Raising Hell Baseball Jacket on Madonna’s “Hard Candy” world tour this Fall!

A collaboration between Obey’s Shepard Fairey and photographer Glen E Friedman has resulted in this amazing Public Enemy print. Created bring Obey’s aesthetic to an image of hip hop pioneers Public Enemy, the print accurately reflects the feel of early hip hop style and culture. The print, signed by Fairey, Friedman, and Public Enemy’s Chuck D, was released through Obey’s website. Not surprisingly, the print sold out in one day! However, be sure to check out the corresponding Obey-designed PE Clothing.

Converse sure knows how to celebrate an anniversary. The iconic sneaker brand is continually releasing new styles to celebrate their 100th anniversary. The August release has just come out and Converse is making it clear that they are still in the game with a creative twist to their lineup. The silhouettes of the shoes are all familiar, but feature untypical Converse materials like, faux python and sheep fur. The entire series will be available in September, but check out all of the styles here.

The documentary, “Beautiful Losers”, which opens in New York at the IFC on August 8th, has been generating a lot of buzz on the arts scene. The film chronicles the lives and creative process’ of a group of artists who are considered leaders in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip-hop, and graffiti.

Nike Sportswear in fact presents the film so a fashion nod to the film is not only expected, but a must. A series of 22 Beautiful Losers Dunks have been created, which are all emblazoned with stills from the movie. The collection of “Beautiful Losers” dunks are currently being exhibited at the NYC and LA “Make Something!” workshops with two sets being auctioned off for the Children’s Aid Society.
