Sorry San Antonio, you guys may have just been crowned World Champions for the fifth time in 15 years, but the Chicago Bulls and their six successful title runs in the ’90s are still ahead of you on the list of NBA’s greatest dynasties.  So, as a homage to Jackson, Jordan, the team(s) and their beloved Windy City, New Era will release the Chicago Bulls Six Championship Collector Pack. Each of the six snapbacks are individually-packaged in a neat commemorative box and list a particular year the team won under their premium leather brims. Be on the lookout for the above box set to drop this Saturday at select stockists, including Footaction.

The Genesis Project has made a name for itself recently with collections of luxe headwear rooted in retro snapbacks from past decades. From logos of past and current pro sports teams to Pendleton materials and wildly-printed brims, the label’s mix-and-match method has resulted in some of the more innovative and eye-catching options on the market. For Fall/Winter 2012, The Genesis Projects’ releases for November feature an updated array of team strapbacks with new patterned brim combos. Included among the highlights are a duo of Brooklyn Nets models in floral and red Navajo iterations, while NFL fans can get their fix with options from the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, among a host of popular big-city teams. In keeping with the label’s modus operandi, each cap is constructed with a spectrum of premium materials including pigskin suede and lambskin leather.

First deliveries of the Staple Design Spring/Summer 2012 “Staple Theology” collection are starting to trickle into stockists. One such piece in this clever and undeniably bold STAPLE PIGEON SAFARI snapback. A subtle play on the symbolism of the dove in Christian theology, the pigeon is a re-occuring theme that first makes its appearance atop the Staple Saves collection title graphic. The SAFARI version of the snapback eschews a solid bill in favor of the speckled, multicolored bill seen here. Check with your local Staple stockist for availability.

Before the days when top-hatted aliens and spoofed corporate logos adorned World Famous canvas backpacks, the embroidered patch world was dominated by names like Slayer, Maiden, and Judas Priest. And Mishka is looking to bring it to the glory days, releasing their popular Cyco Simon, Keep Watch Eyeball, Bear Mop designs in patch form. We’re not kidding – we seriously think that the eyeball patch would be a perfect compliment to the DRI skankin’ dude. Check out the patches here.

Along with several of the other spring collections we’ve covered in recent weeks, we’ve recently gotten a look at Nonnative’s latest line. Their collection is focused on the rugged and the outdoorsy, featuring plenty of functional windbreakers, vests, and plaid offerings. As a bonus, the photographs that have been released with the collection look amazing – they resemble bleached-out Polaroids, fully complementing their classic-yet-functional aesthetic. Check out the rest of the lookbook here.

Back in the day, when Adam West donned gray tights to play the superhero, the caped crusader’s punches were innocuous “POW!” and “BAM!” feats of 1960’s computer graphics. New Era and DC Comics have teamed up to bring back the camp by decorating black and white caps with old-school Batman symbols and “BOOM!” graphics. The collection comes out this month.

In time to cure the February blues, Upper Playground has released an excellent pair of New Eras. Continuing their tradition of pairing with amazing artists, they’ve collaborated with San Francisco-based artist Michael Sieban and Japanese black-and-white extraodinaire Usugrow. Usugrow’s design depicts a menacing skull, but the belle of the ball is Sieban’s ‘Dear Deer’ grey cap. Featuring an almost-roadkill deer, it’s a surprisingly chipper-yet-hilarious design. Check out Upper Playground’s retailers of their webstore for more details.

In the past several years, everyone and their mothers - including Kanye and Pharrell - have been delving into fixed-gear bicycle culture. And high-profile labels have been taking notice: Obey and Vans, amongst others, have recently released fixie-themed collections. San Francisco-based cap conoisseurs The Official Crown of Laurel have released a sneak peak of their upcoming spring/summer collection, and it’s looking like they’re the next label to release dope cycling-influenced apparel. The collection includes a variety of fitted caps, 5-panel campers, and meshbacks, and thus far, all of their designs are looking excellent - particularly those featuring embossed bike chains. More information forthcoming!
