Bevel's New Skincare Line Is Optimized for Men of Color

When it comes to prepping for summer, skincare isn’t typically top of mind for men — but the change in climate can bring strife to the skin that should be attended to. With Bevel‘s foray into skincare products for men of color, the grooming company’s newest venture will provide a bit of relief to help users achieve their skin’s best texture and appearance.

The line of four products can be easily integrated into an existing shaving routine or can act as a starting point for skincare novices. The line promises to help bring equilibrium with a set of four easy-to-use products that complement Bevel’s end-to-end Shaving System and product shave formulations. Here, we break down a simple cleansing and moisturizing routine that addresses hyper-pigmentation and oily skin with products that are free of alcohol parabens, phthalates, sulfates, dyes, silicones or artificial fragrances.

First up in the line is the Bevel Face Wash. Starting with an effective cleanser is imperative to removing caked-on dirt from the day or providing a refreshing start to the morning. Summer months may have your skin glowing, but the glow is actually an overproduction of oil, which can lead to irritation and breakouts. With the grooming label’s face wash, the product works to brighten skin — creating an overall healthier appearance — by reducing irritation and unclogged pores. Witch hazel extract acts a natural astringent decreasing oil production alongside tea tree oil which creates that post-wash tingle with the added benefits of topical antiseptic and antifungal properties. Coconut water and Vitamin B3 moisturize and tone the skin while reducing fine lines and enlarged pores.

After the wash, the 10% Glycolic Acid Exfoliating Toner balances and exfoliates the skin using four key ingredients: glycolic acid, aloe vera, witch hazel extract, and Vitamin B3. The toner removes dead skin, decreasing the likelihood of ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and acne. The formula’s aloe and glycolic acid work to moisturize and balance uneven textures.

People of color are prone to experiencing hyperpigmentation due to the melanin in their skin. When exposed to sunlight, the body’s natural function is to produce the natural pigments, thus causing for exacerbation of dark spots. Bevel’s Spot Corrector is fortified to prevent this natural occurrence while reducing scarring from shaving and acne. This is achieved through a special blend of 9% lactic acid, vitamin C, shea butter and green tea extract. When applied, the skin is gently exfoliated to remove scarred layers then hit with a cocktail that provides non-greasy, soothing moisture.

It’s a common misconception that oily skin doesn’t need to be hydrated, but it’s quite the opposite. Heat robs the skin of essential water that helps keep its elasticity and freshness. The Moisturizing Face Gel replenishes hydration while calming the skin’s production of natural oil. With vitamin C, algae extract, vitamin E and manuka honey, the skin will look smoother and be protected from breakouts and redness.
