Lego Super Mario Piranha Plant

The iconic Piranha Plant, infamous for being an ever-present nuisance to our beloved Mario throughout the Nintendo video game franchise’s history has just made its way to the real world in the form of a LEGO set.

First introduced in the World 1-2 levels of the 1985 Super Mario Bros. game, this pipe-dwelling flower with teeth has been looking to stop Mario and friends in their tracks for nearly two decades now.

While its LEGO example might not be alive or capable of launching fireballs at you, it certainly feels like it is, thanks to the over 500 pieces included in the set that allow it to be adjusted into various positions. Builders can move the head, mouth, stalk and leaves to create new and exciting poses.

“When designing the Piranha Plant, it felt important to capture its distinctive features and ensure that the set could be positioned in a way that reflects its iconic poses,” shared Carl Merriam, LEGO Super Mario’s Senior Designer, adding “I’m so proud of the finished result, from the mouth to the leaves and stalk, we’ve managed to perfectly portray the menacing essence of the Piranha Plant!”

The set, which features an 18+ label, indicating it’s part of the toy maker’s adult line, is priced at $60 USD and will be available for order via LEGO’s official site starting November 8.
