The new design comes following on from the “History of Punk” Sk8-Hi collaboration last month and takes inspiration from the same subcultural moment.
Whereas the last release looked to The Ramone's influence on New York, the exclusive Old Skool is inspired by the Sex Pistols and their emergence in London. The sneaker features a tartan sidewall, contrasted by pony-hair leopard on the toe box and heel tab, referencing the band’s anti-establishment and DIY ethos.
Elsewhere, the sneaker also features a fluoro pink patent leather panel, celebrating the cover art of the band’s only studio album, Never Mind the Bollocks, Here are the Sex Pistols. Finishing the design is the date “11.06.1977” on the midsole, honoring the date that the iconic single “God Save the Queen” reached number 2 in the UK charts.
The Vans Old Skool “English Invasion” is set to release exclusively via the size? app and select stores on March 14. Head over to the size? web store for more information.
